Maternal Environmental Effects of Temperature and Exogenous Gibberellic Acid on Seed and Seedling Traits of Four Populations of Evening Primrose (Oenothera biennis)

چکیده

Earlier studies have considered the separate effects of temperature and gibberellic acid (GA3) on plants seeds. However, combined these factors parent their progeny received little attention. We investigated two regimes (24/20 °C 28/24 °C, 16 h light/ 8 dark) GA3 treatments (for weeks) reproductive yield plants, subsequent seed germinability, seedling traits four local populations evening primrose (Oenothera biennis). Mature seeds were harvested germinated, seedlings grown under regimes. Parent phenotyped for flower area diameter, capsule length width, full empty masses, number mass per capsule. Additionally, total germination rate determined, alongside stem height dry mass, leaf number, root in seedlings. promoted flowering all first year. Maturation drying higher temperatures resulted more viable faster germinating Higher did not affect germination, but increased that produced with lower regime. In conclusion, responded similarly to treatment terms flowering, differently during maturation, growth.

Effects of Nitrogen and Pre-Harvest Desiccation on Seed Yield and Oil Quality of Evening Primrose (Oenothera biennis L.)

Disadvantages such as indeterminate inflorescence and high seed shattering during ripening are significant restrictions to introduce evening primrose as a commercial medicinal plant. Following to the last works, a pot experiment was conducted to clarify the influence of defoliation before harvest on the seed yield, oil and GLA (gamma-linolenic acid) percentage of evening primrose growing under ...

A Study on the effect of moist-chilling and GA3 application on evening primrose (Oenothera biennis L.) seed germination

Evening primrose (Oenothera biennis L.) is native to North America, belongs to Onagraceae family, and is a biennial plant. This experiment was performed as factorial based on a completely randomized design in three replications. The main purpose of the study was to evaluate the effect of moist-chilling and GA</s...

Seed oil quality of GA3 induced flowering evening primrose (Oenothera biennis L.).

Gamma-linoleic acid in the seed oil of evening primrose makes it nutritionally and pharmaceutically valuable. If evening primrose wants to be cultivated as an annual plant, sowing time is important. By the late sowing and depends to time most plants do not produce flower stem and stay in rosette stage until next spring. To solve this problem, the present study was performed. Seedling were trans...

Heritability, covariation and natural selection on 24 traits of common evening primrose (Oenothera biennis) from a field experiment.

This study explored genetic variation and co-variation in multiple functional plant traits. Our goal was to characterize selection, heritabilities and genetic correlations among different types of traits to gain insight into the evolutionary ecology of plant populations and their interactions with insect herbivores. In a field experiment, we detected significant heritable variation for each of ...
